Mr. Dan Cortez

Dan is Marketing Director for The Arts & Business Council of Greater Phoenix. He oversees the Business on Board program as well as the National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP). Dan is a graduate of HLI Class 2004 and Valley Leadership Class VIII. He is a guitarist, bass player, music lover, and community advocate.  

 

 "I firmly believe that music helps to increase the learning capacity for people of all age groups. It is an integral part of education, family and community growth and sustainability," remarks Cortez. 

 

Cortez also plays bass in local band, Secret Life of Painters.  He is a recent graduate from The Arts and Business Council of Greater Phoenix's program, Business on Board.  He comes to PCM with history in marketing, program development, and public relations.  He grew up in Peoria, Arizona, after moving from Cudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, as a young child. He attended Peoria High School before graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in Marketing.

 

His leadership skills were honed with the help of numerous mentors while working for the Hispanic-Mother Daughter program, The Minority Recruitment Office and Career Services while receiving his education at ASU.  Dan served as a Student Senator for Associated Students of ASU, where he was appointed to the Executive Committee and was Chair of the Appropriations Committee. He was also president of his Alpha Tau Omega fraternity pledge class and an active member of intramural teams.

 

Dan helped pay his way through college with his entrepreneurial skills when he began designing and selling tee shirts for ASU football games, and for school organizations. He joined Hispanic Business Students Association (HBSA) where he chaired several committees and served as vice president. He also designed the organizations logo that is still used today.

Dan was also a member of P.R.I.D.E. (People Relating in Diverse Environments), a group of student leaders of various ethnic backgrounds whose aim was to improve relations and foster communication among the various organizations on campus.  

 

Upon graduation, Dan was recruited by Kraft Foodservice and moved up the corporate ladder, landing a position putting him in charge of an on-line order entry program for the Western Region of the U.S. After five years of corporate life, Dan decided to make a difference in his community.

Mr. Curtis Chester

Mr. Chester is in the Manufacturing and Management field at St. Jude Medical, Inc.  He was a member of the ASU West MBA Project Team that provided PCM with a 5 year strategic analysis and recommendations in December, 2003. 

 

Secretary of the Board

Mr. Nai Wang

Position Accepted June 2006

 

Nai Wang, founder and president of KP Education Systems, has always been a proponent for arts and alternative education. With a history of developing CBTs during it's infancy stages, Nai has honed his skills of information delivery in the mid 90's. Nai currently serves on the advisory board of AAAE (Arizona Alliance for Arts Education) and is active in promoting and advocating for arts education in the public schools. He now (and are we proud to have him!) Serves PCM as secretary!

 

His other activities include serving on committees for his local school district (PVUSD) and grant review boards for City of Phoenix, Office of Arts and Culture. It is his vision to make great resources available for subject areas that are often overlooked by the larger corporations. "If we can replicate a great culinary arts program and bring it to every school across the country, we can do so for all other subjects as well." He has a personal passion for arts education. One day he will see that all the areas that are often overlooked get the necessary attention it deserves. With over ten years of experience in developing, maintaining, and selling of the Sous Chef, Nai has moved forward with his plans to take the success he learned in multimedia publishing to other fields in education.  Plans are under way to produce new products for educators to use as well as take the Sous Chef to the retail home level.

Ms. Cathy Lauer

Ms. Lauer is the Parish Manager and Bookkeeper for St. Vincent De Paul Parish.  She has an extensive history in Human Resource Management. 

 

Fundraising Coordinator

Ms. Beverly George

Ms. George is the Director, AZ Health Academy & Health Care Advancement Program for Maricopa County Integrated Health Systems.  She is an arts advocate and has an extensive history with the Girlscouts.  She is interested in the arts for the value that it brings to the community and is passionate about educating the public about the role of arts organizations and their contributions to the communtiy.

Ms. Tiffany Long- Denninger

Position Accepted March 2007

Ms. Long is Owner and Operator of  Ampersands Design and Print Company. Tiffany Long started AmpersandS with the encouragement of her family in 1995. Her great love of people, projects and graphic design has worked ever since!

As of 2002, AmpersandS became a certified vendor to many municipalities and continually services several contracts. In 2004 they greatly expanded their line of promotional products ensuring that the possibilities for your marketing are limited only by your imagination.

Ms. Olander retired as Executive Director and President of the Board of the Phoenix Conservatory of Music. She is the founder and visionary of the Phoenix Conservatory of Music.

Mr. Davies is a founding member, and served PCM as Secretary for the first 6 years of it's operations.

Ms. Silva is a veteran Music Time participant and was so moved by the program, she felt compelled to help the organization in any way she could.  She is currently the Public Relations Coordinator for Hickman's Eggs.
