Musical Tools for Leadership
Ideal for youth leaders, educators and parents. This workshop explores real applications in musical structures for educators and the general public. No formal musical training is necessary to take advantage of the learning tools available through music play and listening examples. Music has order, form and logic as well as potential for developing a sense of community or culture outside the immediate environment of home, school or family. Academic subjects such as math, language and geography/social studies can be enhanced through musical tools. Guidelines for curriculum and selecting musical examples available and may be negotiated with price.
Learning How to Include Music in Your Academic Curriculum
Ideal for educators, librarians, parents and music educators. This interactive workshop explores the importance of including music in your curriculum, information about things that music shares with other subjects, information about building basic musical competency as well as clarifications of the difference between musical aptitude and musical achievement. There will be discussions and activities to explore everyones capacity to create music and how it helps us learn. Information will be shared about creating home made musical instruments and how to use those instruments to supplement your curriculum. Discussions will also include information on using your physical space and your body to convey musical ideas, vocal play and basic vocal production, ideas on how to use music in a group activity, and how to choose music for academic support, along with a resource guide.
Music In You!
A one- hour workshop for parents, youth leaders and educators about music development in early childhood, infancy to age 5. What is basic music competency and how does that compare to language arts competency? Explore what you can do to develop musical competency in early childhood. Does everybody have the ability to be musical? Learn about musical aptitude vs. musical achievement.
How to Survive Your Child's Music Classes (or Lessons)!
A one hour workshop for parents, youth leaders and educators about being music supportive, at home practice tips, helping your child through music learning, what you can expect from you and your child and all about music play!
The Enjoyment of Classical Music
If you ever attended a concert and had trouble communicating with others about the program, well this program is ideal. Designed to improve your basic knowledge of music, this program explores some basic music history, concert etiquette, how to listen, how to prepare for a concert and basic musical forms and terms.
